Course Description:
The physicians and staff at Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin are committed to providing top-notch treatment options for work-related injuries and conditions of the upper extremity.
Through the aid of our 2019 symposium, “The Road to Recovery after Workplace Trauma”, we will provide a full array of expertise in the recovery process; encouraging and educating alternative treatment options to case managers and adjustors, medical providers and occupational and physical therapists.
The symposium will focus on a wide-range of work-related injuries from fingertip to shoulder. Case studies and in-depth presentations will emphasize the available treatments, postoperative pain management options and the short vs. long haul of recovery.
Taping methods and techniques along with dry needling treatment options will be discussed and demonstrated. Psychological roadblocks in work-related injuries will be presented with the strategies often used to work through the recovery process.
Dr. Matthew Butler will present on problem solving with replantation: when do you/don’t you reattach, etc. Case studies will be incorporated.
To conclude the day, Theresa Parry, Certified Hand Therapist, will discuss rehabilitation following replantation, as well as general challenges with work-related rehabilitation; the recovery process, treatment options and the road to recovery after workplace trauma.
