Course Description:

Two courses combined to benefit Physical and Occupational therapists who treat the upper extremity. In the first part, learn to become comfortable with upper quadrant screening to focus evaluations when symptoms don’t match the diagnosis including understanding cervical spine symptoms, palpation of structures, special testing and evaluation techniques.
The second part is designed to teach instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization for the UE to beginners and seasoned tool users. This course includes lecture to give understanding of the physiologic responses of the body to IASTM. The lab portion will teach the techniques for various IASTM tools for treatment for the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand for various diagnoses such as tendinosis, adhesions/scarring, pain and edema.
This course is designed for the clinician that is new to outpatient upper extremity orthopedics coupled with a strong desire to become proficient in upper extremity rehabilitation or as a supplement to prepare for the CHT exam. This course can also be taken by a veteran clinician that would like to refresh their skills and learn new ones to stay current with evaluation and treatment techniques.
