Course Description:

**CEU's 1.0/ Please note this meets the licensing requirement for a course in the Identification of Victims of Human Trafficking but cannot be counted as a PDR credits for relicensure. This is a one-time requirement that is separate from your licensure renewal requirements.

This course is designed to assist the physical therapy professional in identifying potential victims of human trafficking in the clinical and community settings. Communication strategies, legal reporting guidelines, and awareness of this critical problem in our state are discussed, meeting the re-licensure guidelines for PT's and PTA's in Michigan.

At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to :

Describe the current types, epidemiology and status of human trafficking activity in the state of Michigan, as well as the prevalence in our communities and work settings.
List the guiding principles of assessment and care of human trafficking victims, using a "trauma informed' care approach.
Identify "red flag" indicators of human trafficking in the clinical settings
Discuss effective communication strategies and a framework for initial inquiry with victims of human trafficking .
Follow legal guidelines for reporting potential human trafficking illegal activity to law enforcement and child protection agencies.
