Course Description:
This intermediate level lecture course will explore how characteristics of cerebral palsy, autism, and other neuromotor diagnoses influence motor control, motor learning, strength, and function for children of all ages. Learn to use the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), the framework for most contemporary research, as a framework to support your practice within the unique school environment. Evidence-based examination and intervention strategies will be presented to help you promote motor learning and achievement of personal, functional, outcomes in consideration of a child's specific diagnosis. Through case studies, this course will allow attendees opportunities to integrate the information presented with clinical judgement, providing tools you can implement in your practice tomorrow.
