Course Description:
   This two-day course will focus on applied anatomy and functional biomechanics in the evaluation/physical therapy diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle pathology commonly seen in an outpatient orthopedic and sports setting. Day one will focus on evidence-based evaluation and differential diagnosis. Day two will focus on treatment interventions. Both days will include clinically applicable laboratory sessions. There will be an emphasis on “clinical pearls” as well as opportunities for open forum and group problem solving discussions.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the attendee will:
•   Possess the tools to complete a thorough clinical examination of the foot and ankle and gather valuable data to make clinical diagnosis.
•   Utilize above information to develop a practical treatment plan.
•   Possess a well-rounded base of information of foot and ankle anatomy and biomechanics and relate this to evaluation, treatment techniques and patient education.
•   Benefit from multiple “clinical experts” (other attendees) and their combined experience to problem solve the difficulty clinical presentation.
•   Possess an update of current evidence in the area of evaluation and treatment.
Speaker Bio: Russ Bartholomew PT, DPT
   Russ received his degree in Physical Therapy summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, his certification as board certified clinical specialist (OCS) in 2012 and he completed his transitional doctorate in October of 2015. He has over 29 years of clinical experience initially in neuro-rehabilitation and for the past 25 years exclusively in the realm of orthopedics and sports therapy. His focus area has been in lower extremity biomechanical evaluation and treatment with an eclectic approach of closed chain functional strengthening, manual therapy, motor learning as well as orthotic application. He practices at Advanced Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine clinic in Kaukauna Wisconsin. In this capacity he works as a member of a collaborative team working with orthopedic surgeons /physician assistants, podiatrists, primary care physicians, a certified orthotist, and athletic trainers.
