Course Description:

The VOTA Annual School Symposium is a two-day conference sponsored by the Virginia Occupational Therapy Association and the Virginia Department of Education and provides valuable, evidence based training to pediatric school based occupational and physical therapists across the commonwealth. The conference consists of two-hour a Keynote Address presented by Laurie Ray, PT, PhD, Consultant, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Exceptional Children Division and Associate Professor, PT Division/UNC-CH (CV: https://www.med.unc.edu/ahs/physical/directory/dr-laurie-ray-pt/) and Lauren Holahan, PhD, OT/L, FAOTA, Coordinator for SSIP, Medicaid, and School Mental Health North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Exceptional Children Division (CV: https://www.med.unc.edu/ahs/ocsci/nc-school-based-ot/meet-your-ot-consultant/). The conference also includes 20 - 90 minute concurrent sessions addressing pediatric and school practice related topics. Topics and speakers for all sessions are vetted by a committee of occupational and physical therapists in pediatric and school practice and is led by Patricia Laverdure, OTD, OTR/L, BCP (CV Attached).
