Course Description:
Falls are a major event in the life of the elderly. They may sustain a disability, loss of function, immobility even death. A fall compromises the independence and autonomy as well as increases social cost and consequently physical and psychological impact on the patient and family. Given the complexity of the causes surrounding falls, it is important for occupational therapist, physical therapist and speech language pathologists to know and identify the circumstances and consequences that surround this event, in order to establish appropriate interventions to prevent falls.
