Course Description:
This evidence-based course is ideal for PTs and PTAs who work closely together and provides a continuum of treatment techniques to optimize continuity of care between multiple practitioners. This course has a lab-intensive focus emphasizing repetition and proficiency so that clinicians will be able to quickly, confidently, and effectively utilize the techniques in clinical practice. Spinal Manipulation component will be directed toward Physical Therapists only due to practice act restrictions, however the course is designed for active engagement and participation with a continuum of equivalent techniques for all clinicians throughout the lab. Course sizes are intentionally limited to create a more intimate learning environment, increase direct on-on-one instruction time, and allow some improvisation of content based on the unique needs of each group. Safety and appropriate patient screening and selection are heavily discussed and emphasized. Additional topics covered include mechanisms of manual therapy, regional interdependence & biopsychosocial considerations, imaging, the role of manual therapy in current PT practice, and a review of the current evidence for all course content. Clinical pearls are provided along the way as well. This course will allow you to maximize effective time with your patients and improve your outcomes.
