Course Description:

Debriefing, the feedback and conversation following a student activity, is a key element of experiential learning. Successful debriefing ideally reveals the learner’s frameworks that drove decisions and actions. Good judgment debriefing is a structured debriefing approach grounded in curiosity-based inquiry that uncovers the learner framework and allows injection of the instructor judgment that is essential to learner development. Mastery of debriefing with a good judgment approach has the potential to transform your questioning and interviewing skills in clinical teaching and practice.

This interactive seminar will challenge participants to shift their debriefing approach to the good judgment approach grounded in the curiosity necessary to uncover learner decision frameworks.

Upon completion, attendees will be able to:
1) Articulate components of good judgment questioning and the underlying conditions that support revealing discussions between the learner and instructor.
