Course Description:

This single day interactive course will focus on the evaluation and treatment of the patient with craniofacial dysfunction, impairments, and complaints. The course will predominantly focus on temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), headaches, and cervicalgia. The purpose of the course is to advance the understanding of current research to provide best practice and treatment progression in the clinic. Along these lines, the course will also cover evaluation frameworks, specific examination procedures, and exercise, education, and manual therapy interventions. A combination of interactive lecture, small group case study, and lab skills will ultimately lead to well informed care and enhanced clinical patient outcomes. Course content will also address lifestyle considerations and external factors such as the job demands, diet, and sleep. Lab will center around small group case study with demonstration of appropriate patient education strategies as substantiated in current literature with instructor feedback. Lab will also include hands-on assessment strategies for determining cervical and jaw mobility, endurance, and strength, and apply manual and exercise interventions.
