The management of wounds is complicated by a variety of factors. These include: wound type, co-morbidities, treatment adherence, and the increasing number of products available. Effective treatment of chronic wounds often requires a multi-disciplinary approach in which all members are knowledgeable regarding best practice for the specific types of wounds being treated.
This activity will focus on wound management and treatment goals. Specifically, the goals of wound care and basic management principles will be reviewed. Moist wound therapy dressings and goals will also be detailed. The rationale for generally maintaining a moist wound bed will be discussed.
