Course Description:

As the longevity and the activity level of our aging population increases, Osteoarthritis and its effects have the potential to become a significant public health issue. 51.8 million adults report they have some form of arthritis. 14% of people over the age of 75 report significant limitations due to their arthritis. This course will provide an overview of OA as a public health issue, provide a definition of OA, and review the current literature in regards to pain and pain generation. Finally, we will identify current evidence regarding the conservative care of OA and propose specific, evidence based interventions for treatment.
