Course Description:
Urinary incontinence (UI) is a significant disorder, costing billions of dollars annually to treat, having the potential to progress to even more severe health consequences and causing serious disruption to the health, social, and emotional well-being of those who suffer from it. The incidence is growing and physical and occupational therapy clinicians have been and can continue to be in the forefront in providing effective treatments for incontinence. This course is designed to introduce PTs, PTAs, OTs and OTAs to the types and causes of incontinence, and the treatments and resources therapists can provide to those patients experiencing it. The course is useful for those working in skilled nursing facilities, home health, acute care and outpatient clinics. (This course does not include instruction in EMG, electrical stimulation or biofeedback, which require formal training.)
