Course Description:
Falls and safety issues comprise a growing portion of the home health physical therapists’ caseload. This course is designed to broaden your knowledge base regarding the assessment and treatment options available for improving balance and safety. Separate chapters are devoted to the vestibular, visual and somatosensory systems as they relate to sensory awareness and balance response. In the therapeutic interventions chapter we explore the possibilities available for functional rehab activities in the home setting. This course will shed light on ways to obtain faster, better functional outcomes for your patients in an easy-to-understand format with photographs to provide visual aids. Increasing balance responses and maximizing the neuromuscular control systems is the focus throughout this course. We utilize sports-medicine, occupational therapy, neuroanatomy, ophthalmic, and neurological rehab principles and research to justify these treatment techniques.
