Course Description:
Dizziness is reported by up to 30% of older adults and can cause serious functional impacts, including increased fall risk and loss of mobility and independence. Evaluating and treating older adults with dizziness can be a challenge; symptoms are less specific and impacted by numerous factors, including normal age-related changes in balance systems. This course will guide therapy professionals in the evaluation of patients with dizziness, differentiation between central and peripheral causes of dizziness, and the development of a treatment plan. Treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and vestibular hypofunction will be discussed.
