Course Description:
Physical and occupational therapy professionals play an important role in recognizing a person's need for durable medical equipment (DME) and recommending appropriate devices. Therapy professionals should be confident in their ability to fit and train individuals to utilize mobility assistive equipment, braces, and other adaptive devices when needed. This course will include guidelines to help determine what equipment is appropriate, with review of current advancements and technology available. The learner will develop an understanding of when DME may be beneficial, insurance reimbursement guidelines, and potential out of pocket costs.
