Course Description:
This course guides learners through the general considerations and specific treatment techniques for 3 contemporary and popular heat modalities: ultrasound, paraffin, and diathermy.
Physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical and occupational therapy assistants, and other allied health professionals must rely on sound clinical judgment and the evaluation of their findings to determine if all of the considerations and recommendations apply to the particular patient they are treating before administering treatment modality applications. Patient condition, goals, and response to treatment should be the deciding factors in the choice of treatment intervention.
The purpose of this course is to teach how these modalities create heat in the tissues, and the science behind deciding which modality needs to be used. You will also learn how to safely, effectively, and efficiently use these therapeutic heat modality treatments based on the patients diagnosis.
