Course Description:

Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are a serious burden on the healthcare system and contribute to reduced quality of life for millions of Americans. Physical and occupational therapy professionals regularly treat patients with these pulmonary conditions as a primary or secondary diagnosis. This course will review the pathophysiology of these diseases and address treatment considerations for this population, including patient education, assessment using standardized outcome measures, and evidence-based interventions to address impairments related to impaired pulmonary function.
