Course Description:
It is well known that the population of adults over age 65 continues to grow in the United States. In fact, it is estimated that this population will more than double over the next 40 years. Therapists must understand the age-related changes that can impact function, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial factors, to develop effective treatment strategies for these individuals. This course will identify normal age-related changes and help differentiate between these changes and signs of pathology. Evaluation and treatment considerations will be discussed, including factors that contribute to increased fall risk, determining therapy intensity and progression, and psychosocial factors that may impact participation and outcomes.
