Course Description:
Occupational and physical therapy professionals play an important role in rehabilitation for individuals with shoulder pain and pathology. Clinicians should feel confident in their ability to perform a thorough examination and develop an appropriate treatment plan for these patients. This course will review the anatomy and kinematics of the glenohumeral joint with discussion of the role of posture and scapular rhythm on joint mobility. Therapists will develop an understanding of the shoulder evaluation process including the use of standardized tests and measures and common postoperative findings and precautions. Finally, therapists will be able to utilize their examination findings to initiate an appropriate treatment plan to improve shoulder pain and function.
