Course Description:

Research related to the physical therapy evaluation and care of the foot and ankle continues to expand in both quantity
and quality. To successfully manage the care of lower limb impairments in patients, a therapist must have a thorough
understanding of the various presentations of foot and ankle dysfunctions and how those relate to biomechanics in both
the upper and lower quarter, as well as gait, footwear, and sports-specific movement patterns. The purpose of this
course is to educate physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in management of foot and ankle dysfunction.
The course will update participants on current and relevant literature to help guide evaluation, patient education, plan
of care development, and prescription of both passive and active interventions to garner success in a multi-disciplinary
approach to the care of lower limb impairments and injuries. This will be an intermediate level course building off of
participant experience and knowledge regarding plan of care development, exercise prescription, and pain science. The
breakout sessions will consist of "hands-on" work to practice assessment and treatment interventions.
