Course Description:
Many older adults want to live in their homes and their communities for as long as possible. Physical,
occupational, and speech therapy professionals working in rehabilitation settings, collectively referred to
in this course as “rehabilitation therapists”, play a critical role in empowering and facilitating older adult
clients to make lifestyle modifications in order to age-in-place. This course provides rehabilitation
therapists with an understanding of how to collaborate with older adults to achieve "aging in place".
Topics include common challenges faced by older adults (physical, cognitive, environmental) and the role
of the rehabilitation therapists as a “connector” to the right interventions and resources to optimize aging
in place.
