Course Description:
Surgical approach and treatment for shoulder pain and dysfunction has changed significantly over the last 20 years. The emergence of Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty (rTSA) has helped patients not only with end-stage joint arthritis but also non-operable rotator cuff tears. To best help our patients’ recovery, a physical therapist needs to remain educated regarding comprehensive treatment after rTSA. This includes many facets regarding understanding the surgery itself, how to best help our patients prepare their bodies and homes for recovery, new trends in medication, and aligning the healing process with the best exercises, activities, and manual therapy at each stage to help our patients experience the best recovery, in the fastest time, and with the least pain. This course will discuss surgical management with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ryan Krupp, a well-respected expert that has helped to pioneer the progression of rTSA.
