Course Description:
Cardiovascular and heart disease are major health problems in the United States and worldwide. Over 92 million adults in the United States have at least 1 type of cardiovascular disease and 47% of adults have at least 1 of the 3 primary risk factors for heart disease. Physical and occupational therapy professionals play an important role in the screening, assessment, and treatment of individuals with cardiovascular risk factors and disease. This course will review the primary cardiovascular conditions seen in the clinic and will address treatment considerations for this population, including patient education and assessment using standardized outcome measures.
