Course Description:
Vision loss is an extremely common condition associated with aging. In fact, one in three people has some type of vision-reducing eye disease by age 65. Physical and occupational therapy professionals must recognize the impact vision impairments have on functional status, safety, and quality of life. This module reviews the most common age-related vision disorders and discusses how to recognize the need for and perform vision screening, educate clients on actions to take, and modify therapy interventions to accommodate vision loss. Home evaluations, adaptive equipment, and other low-vision modifications are presented.
