Course Description:

Groin and hip related pain is a prevalent complaint of those in a young and active population. While common and prevalent, symptoms in this region can be complex as many areas can contribute to symptoms. The purpose of this course is to present current evidence and discuss best practice in management of patients in this area. We will discuss appropriate differential diagnosis and classification, based off evidenced informed consensus recommendations, which can help rule out clinical red flags and improve reliability and communication amongst rehabilitation professionals. We will discuss and describe relevant variance in anatomical and biomechanical presentations which can help clinicians appropriately understand prognosis and management of those in this population. We will discuss non-operative management, and when to recognize when referral for consultation for operative management may be indicated. We will identify appropriate physical capacities to measure in this population and choose evidence informed interventions based off findings. Lastly, we will discuss and describe evidenced informed decision making skills which can help guide return to play progressions to maximize safety and outcomes in this population.
