Course Description:
Cancer rehabilitation is a rewarding and challenging specialty area of practice that requires core rehabilitation skills applied within the context of a deep understanding of cancer, its treatments, and the effect on various body systems. This course is designed to provide speech language pathologists with a foundational understanding of common cancer and treatment-related sequelae, including chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and the role of exercise and physical activity in people affected by cancer. Understanding these sequelae will help speech language pathologists identify their role within the interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation team, including screening, cross-team referrals, treatment, education, and ongoing support. Learner understanding will be assessed using post-course multiple choice quizzes.
