Course Description:
Cerebral palsy (CP) is typically diagnosed between 18 and 24 months, on average. However, current guidelines support diagnosis much earlier—by 6 months of age. In this podcast, we discuss the international guidelines for early detection of CP and how to implement these guidelines in a clinical setting. Physical and occupational therapists will learn the importance of detecting cerebral palsy (CP) early and what their role is in the process. The definition and criteria required for a diagnosis of CP, current terminology used to describe the range of presentations, and three components of examination required for diagnosis are presented.
