Course Description:
Hyperkyphosis is a geriatric syndrome that is common among older adults and progresses with age. It is associated with multiple adverse health statuses including declines in physical function, quality of life, self-esteem, and pulmonary function; vertebral fracture; and even mortality. In this one hour podcast we will discuss the health impact of hyperkyphosis; how to measure it in clinical practice; and the importance of multimodal physical therapy including posture and strength training, taping, manual therapy, and bracing. We will also address what amount of change to expect and best practice for prescribing individualized home exercise based on clinical presentation.
