Course Description:
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition that affects how the body uses glucose, an important source of energy for cells. Diabetes affects millions of individuals, and it can cause multiple complications. One common complication of diabetes is the development of diabetic ulcers on the lower extremities. This course discusses the causes of diabetic ulcers and the clinical characteristics of each type. It will also discuss evidence-based treatment plans. Without the knowledge on managing diabetic ulcers, individuals will experience a decrease in their quality of life.
The goal of this course is to educate nurses, physical therapists, and dietitians in post-acute care on the identification and treatment of diabetic ulcers.
