Course Description:
Communication is the basis for every interaction between human beings and involves providing a message and interpreting a message for each person. The brain changes that occur in people with dementia interfere with their expression of verbal messages as the disease progresses, but also with how they interpret and process incoming information. Similarly, the message conveyed is more than just words; it involves non-verbal communication even more than verbal. This course helps you take a second look at how your approach and word choices impact a person with dementia while providing care in-home health and how care partners (family members) can better translate the messages people with dementia are providing
