Course Description:
By 2030, over 20% of the U.S. population will be over the age of 65 and many of those older adults will be severely obese (BMI > 40). The interaction of obesity with the normal physiologic changes of aging will affect a patient's clinical presentation and plan of care. This course for rehabilitation therapists in home health and post-acute settings reviews the impact of obesity on aging and how to account for these impacts when developing effective treatment strategies. Case studies model best practices for developing effective interventions, appropriately modifying the plan of care, and documenting goals.
