Course Description:

When a patient experiences trauma, their motivation or ability to utilize support services is often impacted. The manner in which a provider responds to a patient’s trauma will affect not only the level of impact of the trauma itself, but also the success of the healing and recovery process. This presentation will identify different types of trauma and review how trauma affects health and behaviors. Additionally, how trauma-informed approach can be implemented into current practice will be analyzed and key principles of trauma-informed approach will be discussed.
