Course Description:
The expertise of physical and occupational therapy professionals is critical for individuals post-amputation to achieve optimal outcomes. This foundational course reviews the roles and responsibilities of therapy professionals in the rehabilitation of patients who have experienced upper limb (UL) amputation. Learners will develop an understanding of the treatment considerations common to all procedures throughout the stages of rehabilitation, including key components of assessment and treatment to enable the person to return to maximum function using prosthetic devices. A case scenario will highlight interdisciplinary rehabilitation goals, assessment, and interventions throughout each phase of the rehabilitation process.
