Course Description:

This conference is designed to provide participants with information latest evidence-based updates in cancer treatment and their implications for the oncology rehabilitation professional/physical therapist. In addition, this conference will allow participants to summarize the implications and contraindications for therapeutic interventions and their rehabilitation implications. With all the new aforementioned information, participants will be able to improve the quality of care delivered to patients with cancer diagnoses.

Physical therapists will gain latest evidence based clinical knowledge on ototoxicity, a side effect with wide rehabilitation implications. Attendees will discuss the implications of current cancer treatments to the pelvic floor and swallowing interventions. The conference does have a focus on rehabilitation in the palliative phase of care. Proton therapy will be presented as a new oncology modality that rehabilitation professionals need to understand and address in plans of care. The course will also focus on mindfulness strategies and resiliency for self-care and for care of patients.
