Course Description:
Core Competencies in Interdisciplinary Cancer Rehabilitation is a comprehensive, introductory, clinical education course designed to advance awareness, knowledge, and clinical competency for healthcare professionals of all experience levels in the field of interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation. The American Cancer Society has predicted a tsunami of over 22 million Americans that will have a history of cancer by 2030. This course supports clinicians to meet the multifaceted needs and impairments of people living with and beyond cancer to provide cohesive rehabilitative and supportive care services. Based on current, evidence-based rehabilitation clinical practice guidelines and oncology industry recommendations and standards, the course is comprised of 35 individual seminars created by well-known, distinguished leaders and educators in oncology and oncology rehabilitation.
This course will enhance the participants’ knowledge of:
• The disease of cancer and medical treatments for cancer control
• Acute, late, and long-term effects of the disease and its treatment interventions on the body systems
• Essential components of interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation throughout the continuum of care
At the completion of this course, participants will be prepared to safely and confidently navigate the logistical challenges associated with identifying the need for and providing competent, high-quality cancer rehabilitative care to people with cancer diagnoses to optimize their quality of life and overall survivorship.
