Course Description:
Designed to update the practicing clinician, this course will provide the contemporary principles of excellent care for people who have lower extremity amputation. The prosthetic care continuum will include initial post-surgical recovery, pre-prosthetic care, the “first steps' on the prosthesis, and the return to functional independence. Information on current prosthetic components, optimizing socket fit, residual limb care and exercise training, and early prosthetic training will be provided. Collaborative, patient-centered care will be emphasized using patient models and scenario-based health care interdisciplinary team interactions to optimize patient performance.
