Course Description:
This four (4) hour basic to intermediate level course is designed to educate rehabilitation clinicians on the best practices in the evaluation and treatment of burn patients across the continuum of care.
The first section focuses on burn basics, including degree of burn staging, phases of burn healing, the resuscitation process, and frequent surgical interventions.
The second section addresses burn rehabilitation management across the continuum of care. Acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient interventions for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology will be presented.
The final section covers considerations for special patient populations, including Steven Johnson’s Syndrome, frostbite, and heterotopic ossification.
