Course Description:
This online video course provides learners with an introduction to breast cancer and its treatment. The course will first review medical management of breast cancer, including common medical, radiation and surgical oncology treatment options. Learners will then be introduced to key principles of breast cancer rehabilitation, including patient perspectives on the breast cancer experience, prospective surveillance, whole person care and current barriers/disparities in care. Common physical side effects & their rehabilitation management, breast cancer-related lymphedema & its management, and other special topics such as safety issues, metastatic breast cancer and selecting/interpreting appropriate outcome measures will be addressed. The course will close with a review of the ReVital breast cancer prehab program and how to put it into practice. Learner understanding will be assessed using post-course multiple choice quizzes and case-based discussions in the Foundations of Cancer Rehabilitation I live course.
