Course Description:

Total knee replacement surgery is an increasingly popular and effective treatment for knee arthritis. Patients are spending significantly less time in the hospital, with many going home the day of surgery. Physical therapists will often be the primary health-care provider to the patient for the first several weeks after surgery, so need to be competent with understanding common post-operative medications. Upon completion a physical therapist will understand proper utilization of medications, assess for common side-effects, and incorporate medication education into patient care to improve overall safety and outcomes.
