Course Description:

This two part series is meant to give a basic overview and a screening framework for several causes of balance and vertigo that may be seen with your post COVID patients. Due to the high incidence of neurological involvement, extended periods of immobility, deconditioning, and cardiopulmonary complications, the patient with a COVID history may present with numerous symptoms including, dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, or lightheadedness.

It is important to keep in mind what these symptoms are coming from with each individual in order to assure we are addressing them optimally. While these symptoms can arise from the vestibular system or the inner ear, we must recognize that this is not always the case.
The series will provide a framework to determine how best to manage these patients. It is critical to recognize that this is a fairly brief overview and will not cover every diagnosis that can cause these symptoms. The first module will look at evidence based tests and treatments for balance. The second module will look at testing and treatment of posterior canal BPPV.
