Course Description:
Therapists are more frequently treating patients in the acute stages of recovery from total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in the home and outpatient setting, which poses new challenges for therapists. This requires a review of the management of the acute care patient, as well as how comorbidities and age can impact a patient’s ability to participate in therapy immediately after surgery. This course reviews updates in the rehabilitation of patients post-TKA and describes best practices for monitoring, treatment, and progression in the acute stage of recovery.
