Course Description:
Therapy providers are experts at assessing function and movement systems through thorough
evaluation to determine differential diagnosis and establish a plan of care. However, on a broader
construct, when barriers to health and well-being are not considered and managed, patient
outcomes are often not fully realized or sustainable. This presentation is aimed at increasing
awareness of the social determinants of health, the potential impact on therapeutic outcomes, and
the importance of these factors on quality of life of our older adult patients/clients. Physical and
occupational therapists working with older adults in all settings will benefit from this discussion.
