Course Description:
Medications prescribed for acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions can impact a person’s functional performance, recovery, and safety. This course discusses medications commonly prescribed for patients with cardiovascular disease and the implications for rehabilitation therapists working with patients in post-acute care settings. Learners will gain an understanding of the effect these medications may have on exercise and functional ability, potential adverse effects, and monitoring requirements. Strategies that enable patients to become more autonomous and informed in their rehabilitation are also reviewed.
