Course Description:
There is conflicting evidence regarding the use of orthoses to address muscle tone, contractures, and pain in patients with upper extremity (UE) hemiplegia. This module presents current evidence regarding the use of different orthoses to help guide clinical decision making. Learners will gain an understanding of the different types of orthoses, indications, and precautions for the wrist and hand. Barriers to obtaining and use are discussed, along with ways rehabilitation therapists can help overcome them.
