Course Description:

An estimated 75% of adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lives. Using a trauma-informed care approach, which involves promoting a safe physical and emotional environment, empowerment, and healing, supports patients in achieving their highest level of health and wellbeing. This course provides rehabilitation professionals with an introduction to trauma-informed care, its guiding principles, and steps to apply these principles to patient care. Considerations for the implementation of trauma-informed care in health systems and organizations are also presented.
