Course Description:
Osteoporosis and arthritis are severe and debilitating bone diseases that affect hundreds of millions of individuals worldwide. Osteoporosis is medically diagnosed when there are changes to bone density, which decreases bone strength and increases the risk of skeletal fractures. This can affect patients significantly, reduce their quality of life, and increase mortality. Arthritis is a chronic condition marked by inflammation, pain, and stiffness in the joints. Untreated, it will lead to loss of physical function, inability to carry out daily tasks of living, and difficulties in maintaining employment. Healthcare staff must have adequate knowledge of common principles for osteoporosis and arthritis to ensure that they have the ability and skills to manage individuals with these diseases effectively.
