Course Description:

This introductory masterclass will provide the clinician with foundational knowledge on the medical management, rehabilitation evaluation and concepts of neuromuscular rehabilitation for a wide variety of diagnoses under the classification of facial asymmetries. The course will include a basic anatomy and physiology of the Facial Nerve and the muscles of facial expression. We will provide an overview of most common objective measures for facial expression, followed by the corresponding neuromuscular rehabilitation techniques for patients with facial paralysis and paresis. Finally, the course with round out with a discussion of the research of using modalities in this patient population.
