Course Description:

Welcome to this course Physical Therapy: Assistive Aid Devices for Ambulation. There are a wide range of health conditions, disease processes, and impairments that can create barriers to safe and effective mobility. One of the common ways physical therapists address these challenges is by recommending an assistive device and instructing the patient and associated caregivers on the appropriate use and function of the device. They also recommend ambulation aids that help individuals restore functional ambulation. This course discusses the basic components of the normal gait cycle, several pre-ambulation considerations, the selection of ambulation assistive devices, and the effective techniques for safe gait training.
