Course Description:
Dizziness, vertigo, and disequilibrium are among the most common complaints of all individuals to their physicians across the lifespan and are particularly prominent among older adults. These patients may seek care from, or be referred to many different specialist making interdisciplinary collaboration critically important. Audiologists and physical therapists play a vital role in the assessment and management of patients with these complaints. This one-day (8 hour) workshop will provide participants with an in-depth overview of the dizzy patient’s journey to wellness. We will explore clinical pathways and protocols from initial intake and interview to recommendations, plan of care, and the rehabilitation process. Gold standard, evidence-based protocols for evaluation will be discussed, with an emphasis on Videonystagmography and bedside testing. We will highlight how comprehensive evaluation helps guide treatment efforts using a functional diagnosis-based approach. Our multidisciplinary faculty will share unique perspectives and highlight interprofessional collaboration to promote excellent outcomes for patients. This course is ideal for clinicians with a wide range of experience in providing vestibular services and will focus on application of knowledge and learning objectives in clinical practice!
